Troubleshooting
Most problems are an iOS setting one step short. If none of these fixes it, email support@trysilex.com with your iPhone model and iOS version. One person reads it; replies usually take a day.
The DNS shield says "Installed", not "Active"
iOS added the configuration but it isn't selected. Open Settings › General › VPN, DNS & Device Management › DNS and choose Silex Shield. If that screen is missing or locked, a work or school management profile is in control of the phone's DNS, and the shield can't override it.
Gambling sites still load
- Check the Protect tab: the shield should read Active.
- Another VPN or DNS app can take over DNS. Only one DNS setting is used at a time.
- A brand-new gambling domain may not be on any list yet. The lists update every few days.
I can't find Silex Site Blocker in Safari
Open Settings › Apps › Safari › Extensions (on iOS 17: Settings › Safari › Extensions) and turn on Silex Site Blocker. Open Silex once afterwards so it loads the list.
I paid, but Silex still shows the paywall
Tap Restore and make sure you're signed into the Apple Account you bought with. If it still fails, email us with the purchase date.
Notifications don't arrive
Check iOS Settings › Notifications › Silex is on, then tap Re-enable notifications in Silex Settings to set the reminders up again. Focus modes can hold notifications back.
New phone
With iCloud on, your progress comes back on its own. Restore your purchase, then run the DNS shield and Safari blocker setup again: neither carries over to a new device.
I need to talk to someone now
Don't wait for an email. The free helplines at the bottom of this page answer 24/7, and Silex's Talk to someone button lists the ones for your region.
