Subscriptions
- Prices. $4.99 per week, or $49.99 per year with a 3-day free trial. Local prices follow Apple's regional pricing.
- Cancelling. Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Silex → Cancel Subscription. Deleting the app does not cancel the subscription.
- Trial. The annual plan's 3-day trial charges nothing up front, and the app notifies you on day 2, before it ends. Cancel any time before it ends and you pay nothing.
- Refunds are handled by Apple, not by us: reportaproblem.apple.com. We can't issue them, but tell us what went wrong anyway — it usually points at something worth fixing.
- If your subscription lapses, the safety tools keep working. The urge button, the helplines and lapse support are free forever.
Protection layers that won't turn on
The DNS shield
The shield installs an encrypted-DNS configuration so gambling domains fail to resolve in every app and browser. If it's stuck:
- Check it's actually enabled: Settings → General → VPN, DNS & Device Management → DNS → "Silex Shield" should be selected.
- A configuration profile from a work or school device-management system can outrank it. On a managed phone, the shield may be blocked entirely.
- It does not survive a factory reset or a new device — re-run the setup.
The Safari blocker
Safari content blockers are opt-in per browser: Settings → Apps → Safari → Extensions → "Silex Site Blocker" → on. It only covers Safari. Other browsers need their own extension, which is precisely why the DNS shield exists.
Honest limits
No iOS app can make itself impossible to remove, and Silex doesn't claim to. Anyone determined enough can delete a blocker in thirty seconds. That's why the app pushes you toward the layers you can't undo on impulse — operator self-exclusion and a bank-level gambling block — and why it suggests giving a Screen Time passcode to someone you trust.
Feature requests and bugs
Both go to the same address. Requests that make the app better at helping people quit get built; requests that would make it more addictive to use don't.

Common questions
How do I cancel my Silex subscription?
On your iPhone: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Silex → Cancel Subscription. Cancelling in Apple's settings is the only way to stop billing; deleting the app does not cancel anything.
I paid but Silex still shows the paywall.
Open the paywall and tap Restore Purchases, and check you are signed into the same Apple Account you bought with. If it still fails, email support@trysilex.com with the date of purchase.
Why does the DNS shield need a profile?
Blocking gambling in every app and browser, not just Safari, requires an encrypted-DNS configuration at the system level. iOS asks you to approve it in Settings. You can remove it at any time from Settings → General → VPN, DNS & Device Management.
Does deleting the app delete my data?
Yes, on the device. If iCloud backup was on, also remove the iCloud copy: Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Account Storage → Silex.
