Privacy and your data
Silex has no accounts and no server of its own that stores anything about you. This page is the practical summary; the privacy policy is the full, binding version.
Where your data lives
- On your phone. Your answers, days, urges, lapses, pledges, journal and program progress are stored in the app.
- In your private iCloud, if iCloud is on for your Apple Account. Silex mirrors its data to your own private iCloud database so it survives a new phone. Only your Apple Account can read it; we can't. Without iCloud, data stays on the phone only.
What leaves your phone
- Subscriptions (RevenueCat). Purchase receipts and an anonymous app user ID, so your subscription works and can be restored. It also receives Apple's anonymous ad-attribution token, if one exists.
- Anonymous usage (TelemetryDeck). Which screens and steps are used, with no names, answers or amounts. Turn it off in Settings with Share anonymous usage.
- DNS lookups, while the shield is on, go to Mullvad's DNS resolver under its no-logging policy. Silex never sees them.
- Blocklist updates. Silex downloads the public gambling blocklist from a content-delivery network. Nothing about you is sent with the request.
Silex sends nothing you write, and nothing about the sites you visit.
Deleting your data
- Delete the app. That removes everything on the phone.
- If you used iCloud, also remove the iCloud copy: Settings › your name › iCloud › Manage Account Storage › Silex (on some iOS versions, Manage Storage).
- To remove the DNS shield too: Settings › General › VPN, DNS & Device Management › DNS.
Deleting the app doesn't cancel a subscription; see Subscriptions. Silex has no data export.
