Silex documentation
Silex is an iPhone app for people who want to stop gambling. It blocks gambling sites and apps across the phone, runs a 90-day quit program one day at a time, gives you an SOS button for the worst minute of an urge, and counts the money you keep. These pages explain how each part works and how to set it up.
Requirements
- Device: iPhone with iOS 17.0 or later, in portrait, with a dark interface. Silex is also on Android (Google Play, Android 8.0 or later); these pages describe the iPhone app.
- Languages: 22: English, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Russian, Simplified Chinese, Spanish, Swedish, Thai, Traditional Chinese, Turkish, Ukrainian and Vietnamese.
- Account: none. There is no sign-up and no login. Your data lives on your phone and, if you use iCloud, in your own private iCloud database.
- Price: a subscription, $2.99 a week or $29.99 a year with a 7-day free trial. See Subscriptions.
Where to start
- Getting started: what onboarding asks and the three setup steps after it.
- Protection layers: the DNS shield, the Safari blocker and the three layers you set up outside the app.
- The SOS button: the urge flow, and how to reach it from the Lock Screen, Control Center and Siri.
- The 90-day program: phases, how days unlock, and what happens after a lapse.
- Progress, money kept and orbs: how each number is calculated.
- Notifications and widgets: what Silex sends, when, and the discreet wording.
- Subscriptions: plans, the trial, cancelling, restoring, and what stays free.
- Privacy and your data: what is stored where, analytics, and deleting everything.
- Settings reference: every option in Settings.
- Troubleshooting: fixes for the common problems and how to reach a person.
What Silex is not
Silex is a self-help tool, not medical care. It doesn't diagnose or treat gambling disorder, and it isn't a crisis service. If you are in danger, call your local emergency number or one of the free helplines listed at the bottom of every page.
